Do you know where we got our word "pumpkin" from?
The word pumpkin originates from the word pepon, which
is Greek for “large melon", something round and large.
The French adapted this word to pompion, as in pom
pom? The actual French word for pumpkin is potiron and it isn't
pronounced pot iron!!
Which the British changed to pumpion and
later American colonists changed that to the word we use today,
"pumpkin".
